Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 can evaporated milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Chocolate shavings or cocoa powder for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Combine dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Mix wet ingredients: In a large bowl, beat the eggs, then add the milk, oil, and vanilla extract. Mix well until combined.
  4. Incorporate dry ingredients into wet until just combined to avoid overmixing.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top with a spatula.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let the cake cool completely.
  7. Prepare the soaking mixture: Whisk together sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and heavy cream.
  8. Poke holes all over the cooled cake with a fork or skewer.
  9. Soak the cake by pouring the milk mixture over it.
  10. Chill for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
  11. Final touches: Whip heavy cream and garnish with chocolate shavings or cocoa powder before serving.
