Delightful chocolate sugar cookies, crisp on the edges and soft in the center, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until a dough forms.
  6. Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick on a floured surface.
  7. Cut out shapes using cookie cutters and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until edges are set.
  9. Cool the cookies before decorating or enjoying as they are.

Notes

Chill your dough if it’s too soft to roll out. Experiment with flavors by adding chocolate chips or nuts.
