Chocolate Mousse

A simple yet decadent chocolate mousse that feels like a hug for your taste buds.

Ingredients

  • 200g dark chocolate
  • 3 large eggs, separated
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Melt the dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a pot of simmering water. Stir until smooth and let cool slightly.
  2. Whip the egg whites in a separate bowl with a pinch of salt until stiff peaks form.
  3. Beat the heavy cream with sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form.
  4. Combine the egg yolks into the cooled chocolate until well mixed.
  5. Fold a few spoons of whipped cream into the chocolate mixture to lighten it, then gently fold in the rest.
  6. Incorporate the beaten egg whites until no white streaks remain.
  7. Chill the mousse in serving dishes for at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes

Top with whipped cream, cocoa powder, or fresh berries. Pairs well with dark coffee or dessert wine.
