A delightful treat that combines rich chocolate cake and smooth, creamy mousse, perfect for celebrations or satisfying cravings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 200g dark chocolate
  • 4 large eggs
  • 100g sugar
  • 300ml heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 150g all-purpose flour
  • 50g cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a round cake pan.
  2. Melt the dark chocolate and let it cool slightly.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the melted chocolate and vanilla extract to the egg mixture and mix well.
  5. In another bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the chocolate mixture until just combined.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for about 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the cake cool completely.
  9. For the mousse, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form, then fold into the melted chocolate until smooth.
  10. Once the cake is cool, layer the chocolate mousse on top.
  11. Chill the cake in the refrigerator for at least 120 minutes before serving.

Notes

Make sure chocolate is not too hot before mixing with eggs to prevent cooking them. Whip cream until just soft peaks form, and avoid over-whipping.
