Delicate chocolate macarons with a rich dark chocolate filling that evoke sweet memories of baking bliss.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1 ¾ cups powdered sugar
  • ½ cup egg whites (approximately 3 large eggs, aged for a day)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (Halal)
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips (Halal)

Instructions

  1. Start by preparing your workspace. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, sift together the almond flour, powdered sugar, and cocoa powder.
  3. In a clean bowl, beat the aged egg whites until they start to foam. Gradually add in the granulated sugar.
  4. Carefully fold the dry mixture into the whipped egg whites using a spatula.
  5. Transfer the batter into your pastry bag and pipe small, even circles onto the prepared baking sheets.
  6. Let these beauties rest at room temperature for about 30-45 minutes, or until a skin forms on the surface.
  7. Bake the macarons for 15-18 minutes, or until they look slightly firm.
  8. While the shells are baking, melt the dark chocolate chips in a heatproof bowl.
  9. Pair similar-sized shells together and pipe your rich chocolate filling onto the flat side of one shell.
  10. For the best flavor and texture, let the assembled macarons sit in the fridge for 24 hours.

Notes

Store leftover macarons in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. They can also be frozen (before filling) for up to a month.
