Ingredients

  • 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (optional, for added sweetness)
  • 1 chocolate cake (for layering)

Instructions

  1. Heat the heavy cream in a saucepan over medium heat until it’s just about to boil.
  2. Combine with chopped chocolate and butter in the heated cream, stirring until smooth.
  3. Sweeten the ganache with optional powdered sugar to taste.
  4. Cool the ganache slightly to allow it to thicken while remaining pourable.
  5. Prep your cooled chocolate cake on a wire rack.
  6. Dripping the ganache generously over the top, letting it flow over the edges.
  7. Set the cake for a while before serving for the ganache to firm up.

Notes

Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream, and a sprinkle of sea salt enhances the flavors.
