Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Combine flour, baking soda, and salt in another bowl; gradually blend this mixture into the creamed butter and sugars.
  5. Stir in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  6. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving space between each cookie.
  7. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  8. Let the cookies cool on wire racks.

Notes

For softer cookies, do not overbake. Use room-temperature butter and eggs for better mixing.
