A rich and creamy chocolate buttercream frosting perfect for cakes, cupcakes, and more.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 to 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream or milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Beat the butter until creamy in a large mixing bowl, about 2-3 minutes.
  2. Add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder gradually, mixing on low speed until well combined.
  3. Pour in the heavy cream and vanilla extract, then beat on high speed until fluffy and smooth, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add a pinch of salt to taste and mix well.
  5. Use immediately for frosting or store in the refrigerator for later use.

Notes

Store leftover frosting in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week. Bring to room temperature and stir before using.
