This chili cheese dog casserole brings classic flavors together in a warm, inviting dish perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 6 hot dogs, sliced into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 can (15 oz) of chili (your favorite brand)
  • 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup of diced onions
  • 1 cup of tater tots (optional, for added texture)
  • 1 package of hot dog buns, cut into pieces
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Sauté the onions in a skillet over medium heat with olive oil until soft, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add the sliced hot dogs and cook for another 5 minutes until slightly browned.
  3. Combine with chili, mixing well and letting it simmer for about 5 minutes.
  4. Layer hot dog bun pieces evenly in a greased 9×13 casserole dish.
  5. Add the chili-hot dog mixture over the bun pieces.
  6. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese generously over the top, and scatter tater tots if desired.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  8. Garnish with chopped green onions if desired and serve hot.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave or oven.
