A warm, creamy chicken tikka masala that celebrates flavors and brings comfort to the table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 500g chicken breast, cubed
  • 2 tablespoons yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon coriander
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, minced
  • 400g canned tomatoes
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Chicken: In a bowl, combine chicken cubes with yogurt, lemon juice, garam masala, cumin, coriander, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well to ensure each piece is coated. Cover and set aside for at least 1 hour, or even overnight for the best flavor infusion.
  2. Sauté the Onions: Heat vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onions and sauté until they become golden brown, releasing their sweet aroma.
  3. Add Aromatics: Stir in the minced garlic and ginger to the pan and cook for about another minute, allowing their flavors to mingle and rise in the steam.
  4. Cook the Marinated Chicken: Add the marinated chicken to the pan, cooking until the chicken is no longer pink, ensuring it absorbs the spices as it cooks.
  5. Incorporate the Tomatoes: Pour in the canned tomatoes, stirring well. Bring to a simmer and let it cook for 10 minutes, allowing all the flavors to meld beautifully.
  6. Creamy Finish: Stir in the heavy cream, letting the dish simmer for another 5-10 minutes. The sauce will thicken, turning velvety and luxurious.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Garnish generously with fresh cilantro and serve this delightful chicken tikka masala with fluffy rice or warm naan.

Notes

For optimal flavor, allow the chicken to marinate longer—overnight is best. Adjust the spice levels according to your taste, but don’t skip the cream; it balances the heat beautifully.
