A comforting dish of pillowy gnocchi enveloped in a rich, creamy sauce with tender chicken.

  • 1 lb chicken breast
  • 1 lb potato gnocchi
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese
  • Olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 2 shallots, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons flour

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F.
  2. Season the chicken breast generously with olive oil, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  3. Sear the chicken in a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat for 8-10 minutes until golden brown.
  4. Remove the chicken from the skillet and let it rest.
  5. Melt the unsalted butter in the same skillet, then add and sauté the shallots until soft.
  6. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant.
  7. Sprinkle in the flour, stir to form a roux, and cook for another minute.
  8. Whisk in chicken broth, milk, and heavy cream until the sauce thickens.
  9. Combine chopped chicken and uncooked gnocchi with the sauce.
  10. Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish, topping with mozzarella and parmesan cheese.
  11. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until bubbly and golden.

Notes

Serve hot, garnished with black pepper or parsley. Pair with green salad or garlic bread.
