Homemade Cherry Pie

A classic cherry pie filled with sweet and tart cherries in a buttery, flaky crust, perfect for family gatherings and summer picnics.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh or frozen cherries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 pie crust

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Mix the fresh or frozen cherries, sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, and vanilla extract in a bowl.
  3. Prepare the bottom pie crust in a pie pan, pouring the cherry mixture into it.
  4. Add small pieces of butter on top of the cherry filling.
  5. Seal the pie with the top crust, crimping the edges, and make slits in the top to release steam.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, until golden brown and bubbly.
  7. Cool the pie before serving to allow the filling to set.

Notes

Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for a delightful treat. Store leftovers at room temperature for up to 2 days, or refrigerate for up to a week.
