Ingredients
Scale
1.5 lbs Flank or Skirt Steak
2 limes (juice)
1 orange (juice)
4 minced garlic cloves
1/4 cup chopped cilantro
Salt (to taste)
Pepper (to taste)
8 Corn tortillas (or flour tortillas)
Fresh cilantro (for topping)
Diced onions (for topping)
1 Avocado (for topping)
Jalapeños (optional, for topping)
Sour cream (optional, for topping)
Instructions
Mix the Marinade: In a bowl, combine the juice of 2 limes, 1 orange, 4 minced garlic cloves, and 1/4 cup of chopped cilantro. Add salt and pepper to taste.
Marinate the Steak: Place your flank or skirt steak in the marinade, ensuring it’s fully coated. Let it marinate for at least 1 hour, up to overnight for maximum flavor.
Preheat the Grill: Preheat your grill to high heat. Remove the steak from the marinade and let excess drip off.
Grill the Steak: Grill for about 5-7 minutes on each side for medium-rare, depending on the thickness. You want a nice char on the outside.
Rest the Steak: Once grilled, remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for about 10 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute.
Slice the Steak: Slice the steak against the grain into thin strips.
Warm the Tortillas: While the steak rests, warm your corn tortillas on the grill for about 30 seconds on each side, or until they are pliable and slightly toasted.
Assemble the Tacos: Place a few slices of carne asada in the center of each tortilla. Top with diced onions, fresh cilantro, and avocado.
Add the Finishing Touch: Squeeze a bit of lime juice on top for an extra zing!
Notes
Marination enhances flavor; customize toppings to your liking.
