A delightful twist on traditional frosting with rich, nutty flavor perfect for cakes and cookies.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Continue cooking until the butter turns golden brown and has a nutty aroma, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  3. Combine the browned butter, powdered sugar, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and salt in a mixing bowl.
  4. Beat with an electric mixer until creamy and smooth, adjusting the consistency with more cream or powdered sugar as needed.
  5. Use immediately to frost cakes, cupcakes, or cookies.

Notes

Keep an eye on the butter while it’s browning to prevent burning. For a thicker frosting, add more powdered sugar.
