A delicious twist on the classic burger with smoky bacon and sweet bourbon jam, perfect for gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 strips of bacon
  • 1/4 cup bourbon
  • 1/2 onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 slices of smoked gouda cheese
  • Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato, pickles

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove and chop into small pieces.
  2. In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and cook until softened.
  3. Stir in the bourbon, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar, cooking until the mixture thickens. Add the chopped bacon back into the skillet.
  4. Form the ground beef into patties and season with salt and pepper. Grill or pan-fry the patties to your desired doneness.
  5. During the last few minutes of cooking, top each patty with a slice of smoked gouda to melt.
  6. Assemble the burger by placing the patty on a bun and spooning the bourbon-bacon jam on top. Add any additional toppings as desired.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding spices to the ground beef before forming patties. Avoid overcooking the patties for the best juiciness.
