Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 package instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Eggs (as required by cake mix)
  • 1/4 cup water (as required by cake mix)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the yellow cake mix according to package instructions, using eggs and water as required, and bake in two round cake pans.
  2. Let the cakes cool completely on a wire rack.
  3. Make the instant vanilla pudding by mixing it with 1 cup of milk, and refrigerate until set.
  4. Assemble the first layer by placing one cake layer on a serving platter and spreading the vanilla pudding on top.
  5. Stack the second cake layer on top of the pudding-covered first layer.
  6. Prepare the chocolate ganache by heating heavy cream until it simmers, then stirring in chocolate chips and butter until smooth.
  7. Dress the cake with the ganache pouring it over the top, letting it drip down the sides.
  8. Chill the cake in the refrigerator for at least an hour before serving.

Notes
