A nostalgic dessert combining tart blueberries with a crunchy, buttery topping, perfect for any occasion.

  • 1 cup sifted flour
  • ½ cup butter (softened)
  • 1 cup sugar (granulated)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 4 cups blueberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 2 tablespoons flour (for coating blueberries)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar (for coating blueberries)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Place the blueberries in a large mixing bowl and sprinkle with 2 tablespoons of flour and 2 tablespoons of sugar.
  3. Transfer the blueberry mixture into a well-buttered 8″ by 8″ baking dish.
  4. In another bowl, combine the sifted flour, softened butter, granulated sugar, salt, and baking powder.
  5. Gently stir in the vanilla extract into the crumbly mixture.
  6. Sprinkle the crumbled topping generously over the blueberry mixture.
  7. Carefully place the baking dish into the preheated oven and let it bake for 45 to 55 minutes.
  8. Once baked, transfer the crisp to a wire rack to cool for about 30 minutes.

Notes

Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Cover leftovers and store in the fridge for up to three days.
