A delightful dessert combining fresh blackberries with a sweet, buttery batter, perfect for warm summer evenings.

  • 2 cups fresh blackberries
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine the blackberries and 1/2 cup of sugar in a large mixing bowl; set aside.
  3. Mix together the flour, remaining sugar, baking powder, and salt in another bowl.
  4. Stir in the milk and melted butter until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased baking dish.
  6. Spoon the blackberry mixture over the batter.
  7. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Allow it to cool slightly before serving.
