A warm dessert featuring sweet blackberries topped with a buttery, golden crust – perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh blackberries
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine the blackberries with 1/2 cup of sugar and set aside.
  3. Stir together flour, remaining 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Add the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and mix gently.
  5. Grease a baking dish and pour the batter into it.
  6. Spoon the blackberry mixture over the top of the batter.
  7. Bake for 45-55 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Serve warm, perhaps with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
