A delightful dessert featuring fresh blackberries topped with a sweet biscuit-like crust.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh blackberries
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine blackberries with 1/2 cup of sugar in a mixing bowl and set aside.
  3. Whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and remaining sugar in another bowl.
  4. Stir in milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased baking dish.
  6. Spoon blackberries over the batter, allowing them to sink slightly.
  7. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly.
  8. Serve warm, optionally with ice cream.
