  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 4 cups fresh strawberries, sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Creaming together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the creamed mixture, alternating with the milk.
  6. Pour the batter evenly into prepared cake pans and smooth the tops.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  8. Whip the heavy cream with the powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
  9. Once the cakes have cooled, layer one on a serving platter with whipped cream and strawberries.
  10. Carefully place the second cake layer on top and repeat the layering.
  11. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

For the best flavor, use ripe strawberries. You can also add lemon curd or chocolate ganache for variety.
