A luxurious and creamy Bavarian Cream dessert that’s perfect for special occasions and versatile for fillings.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon gelatin
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 egg yolks

Instructions

  1. Warm the milk and half of the sugar in a saucepan until warm.
  2. Whisk the egg yolks in a separate bowl until pale and slightly thick.
  3. Temper the egg yolks by gradually adding the warm milk mixture while stirring constantly.
  4. Cook the mixture over medium heat, stirring frequently, until it thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon.
  5. Dissolve the gelatin in a little cold water and stir it into the warm mixture until fully dissolved.
  6. Cool the mixture to room temperature.
  7. Whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form.
  8. Fold the whipped cream into the cooled mixture carefully.
  9. Chill the mixture in serving bowls for at least 2 hours or until set.
  10. Serve as a decadent dessert or filling for cakes or pastries.

Notes

Chill mixing bowls before whipping cream for better volume. Try flavor variations like lavender or espresso.
