A creamy, velvety dessert that’s both elegant and nostalgic, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 large egg yolks
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons unflavored gelatin
  • 1/4 cup cold water

Instructions

  1. Combine milk, sugar, and vanilla in a saucepan and heat over medium until sugar dissolves.
  2. Whisk egg yolks in a separate bowl and gradually add the hot milk mixture, whisking constantly.
  3. Pour the mixture back into the saucepan and cook over low heat until thickened, stirring regularly.
  4. Soften gelatin in cold water, then add to warm mixture until dissolved.
  5. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
  6. Whip heavy cream in a separate bowl until stiff peaks form.
  7. Fold the whipped cream into the cooled mixture until silky.
  8. Chill in the refrigerator for several hours until set.

Notes

Pairs well with fresh berries, chocolate sauce, or caramel. Can be stored for up to 3 days in the fridge.
