A classic New Orleans dessert made with caramelized bananas, brown sugar, and rum, served warm over vanilla ice cream.

  • 2 ripe bananas
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup rum
  • Vanilla ice cream

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat until bubbly and fragrant.
  2. Mix in the brown sugar and cinnamon, stirring gently until it starts to bubble.
  3. Slice the ripe bananas and carefully add them to the skillet, cooking for about 1-2 minutes.
  4. Flambé the mixture by adding the rum and igniting it carefully.
  5. Serve the banana mixture over scoops of vanilla ice cream.

Notes

For a richer flavor, consider adding a splash of coconut rum or a sprinkle of nutmeg. Best enjoyed fresh.
