A festive dessert combining soft cake, creamy ice cream, and crisp meringue that brings joy to any celebration.

Ingredients

  • 1 cake layer (sponge or pound cake)
  • 1 quart ice cream (your choice of flavor)
  • 4 egg whites
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • Optional: chocolate sauce or fruit sauce for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 500°F (260°C).
  2. Prepare your chosen cake layer on a baking sheet.
  3. Scoop your ice cream of choice and layer it on top of the cake, shaping it evenly.
  4. Make the meringue by beating egg whites and cream of tartar until soft peaks form, then gradually add sugar until stiff peaks form.
  5. Spread the meringue generously over the ice cream and cake, sealing the edges completely.
  6. Bake in the oven for 3-5 minutes or until the meringue is golden brown.
  7. Serve immediately, drizzled with chocolate or fruit sauce if desired.

Notes

Store leftovers tightly wrapped in the freezer for up to two days.
