A beloved classic apple pie recipe filled with tender apples, warm cinnamon, and a flaky, buttery crust that brings families together.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, chilled and diced
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 6 to 8 tablespoons ice water
  • 6 to 8 apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 3/4 cup sugar (for filling)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for dotting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Mix the flour, 1/2 cup sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Cut in the chilled butter until crumbly.
  3. Stir in the ice water a tablespoon at a time until the mixture forms a ball.
  4. Roll out half of the dough to fit a 9-inch pie plate and transfer it carefully.
  5. Toss the peeled and sliced apples with 3/4 cup sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice.
  6. Pour the apple filling into the crust and dot with butter.
  7. Roll out the remaining dough, place over the filling, seal the edges, and cut slits for steam.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, then reduce to 350°F (175°C) and bake for an additional 35 to 45 minutes.

Notes

Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for added indulgence.
