A delightful twist on traditional apple pie, these crispy egg rolls are filled with sweet, spiced apples and perfect for any autumn gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups apples, peeled and diced
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 8 egg roll wrappers
  • Oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Mix the filling: In a bowl, mix together the diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Let it sit for about 10 minutes to allow the juices to develop and the flavors to meld together beautifully.
  2. Prepare the wrapper: Lay an egg roll wrapper on a flat surface with one corner pointing toward you for easier filling and rolling.
  3. Fill and roll the egg roll: Place a spoonful of the apple mixture in the center of the wrapper. Fold the bottom corner over the filling, then fold in the sides, and roll it up tightly to keep everything enclosed.
  4. Heat the oil: In a deep pan, heat oil over medium-high heat. You want enough oil so that the egg rolls can be submerged for frying.
  5. Fry until golden brown: Carefully place the egg rolls in the hot oil. Fry them until they are beautifully golden brown, about 3-4 minutes on each side.
  6. Serve with a sweet touch: Once fried, drain the egg rolls on paper towels to remove excess oil. Just before serving, sprinkle them generously with powdered sugar.

Notes

Pair these egg rolls with vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, or whipped cream for an indulgent experience. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 2 days; reheat in a toaster oven.
