A comforting dessert made with spiced apples and a crunchy oat topping, reminiscent of childhood memories.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups sliced apples
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix the sliced apples with 1/2 cup of brown sugar and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon. Place the apple mixture in a greased baking dish.
  3. Combine the flour, rolled oats, the remaining 1/2 cup of brown sugar, and salt in another bowl. Mix in the softened butter until crumbly.
  4. Sprinkle the oat mixture over the apples evenly.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  6. Serve warm, and if desired, top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Notes

For added flavor, use a mix of Granny Smith and Honeycrisp apples. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
