A comforting dessert combining gooey apple filling and a crispy cake topping, perfect for any occasion.

  • 1 (15 oz / 425g) can apple pie filling
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 (18.25 oz / 517g) box yellow cake mix
  • ¾ cup (170g) butter, melted
  • ½ cup (60g) chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan with butter or cooking spray.
  3. Spread the apple pie filling evenly over the bottom of the prepared pan.
  4. Sprinkle the ground cinnamon over the apple filling.
  5. Pour the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the apple filling and cinnamon.
  6. Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the cake mix.
  7. Add the chopped pecans or walnuts on top (if using).
  8. Bake for 35-40 minutes, until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
  9. Allow the cake to cool for at least 15 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a unique flavor, consider swapping the apple filling with cherry or blueberry. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days at room temperature.
