A rich, fluffy, and easy-to-make American Buttercream Frosting that elevates any dessert.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 24 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Creaming the butter in a large bowl with an electric mixer until creamy.
  2. Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing on low speed until fully incorporated.
  3. Add the vanilla extract and 2 tablespoons of milk; beat until smooth and fluffy.
  4. If the frosting is too thick, add more milk one tablespoon at a time until desired consistency is reached.
  5. Use to frost cakes, cupcakes, or cookies.

Notes

For a less sweet frosting, consider adding a pinch of salt or cream cheese. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
