A classic American buttercream frosting that is creamy, sweet, and perfect for cakes and cupcakes.

  • 1/4 cup heavy cream or milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Creaming the butter: In a large bowl, beat the softened unsalted butter on medium speed until creamy and smooth.
  2. Sweetening the mixture: Gradually add the powdered sugar to the bowl, beating on low speed until fully incorporated.
  3. Adding cream and flavor: Pour in the heavy cream (or milk) and add the vanilla extract.
  4. Whipping it up: Increase the mixer speed to medium-high and beat for 3-5 minutes until fluffy.
  5. Finishing touch: Add a pinch of salt, mix, and your frosting is ready!

Notes

For a pure white frosting, use clear vanilla extract. Adjust consistency with additional cream or powdered sugar as needed.
